The cleanup of Sydney's industrial
waste area has been a long time
coming, but now federal and provincial
governments have agreed to put
forth $400 million towards this project.
After, some of us had the opportunity
in January to review the plans
for the cleanup with Parker Donham
and Frank Potter of the Sydney Tar
Ponds Agency, the members of the
Cape Breton District Labour Council
at their February meeting decided
to support a comprehensive study
for the environmental assessment so
we can move along with the cleanup
as soon as possible.
Let's work together to improve
the lives of everyone on Cape Breton
Island and put our people to work on
the cleanup.
