Sydney - Dr. Tim Lambert was presented with the first-ever Bruno Award during the Atlantic Canada Chapter of the Sierra Club of Canada's annual general assembly in Yarmouth County in July.
Named after Sydney resident
Bruno Marcocchio, the award is presented to a committed environmentalist who sticks to their principles despite resistance and really "ticks off" a municipality, government or government agency in the process.
Lambert, who is from Calgary was an expert witness at the Sydney tar ponds federal review panel. He presented several papers on the potentially negative impact of the proposed cleanup on the residents living nearby the tar ponds.
