Samson visits Sydney's toxic neighbourhood
SYDNEY (CP) - Nova Scotia's new environment minister paid a
surprise visit to a neighbourhood that residents say is
contaminated.
Michel Samson toured Frederick Street which some have called
toxic because of its proximity to coke ovens.
Juanita McKenzie, spokesman for the residents, said the minister
was receptive to their concerns.
Some residents want the government to pay for their relocation, but
Samson said it's hard to come to any conclusion about moving
them while a number of studies are underway.
